Employment Status: Full-Time Salaried 

Job Classification: Exempt 

Annual Salary Range:  $41,000 – $49,000 

 

 

Position Summary: 

Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity (MVHFH) is a nonprofit housing organization that brings people together to build homes, community and hope in Lucas County.  Our vision is of a world where everyone has a decent place to live.  We work toward this vision by building and improving homes in partnership with individuals and families in need of a decent and affordable place to live. 

 

The Community Engagement Manager plays a critical role in strengthening relationships through planning, coordination, and implementation of projects in partnership with key neighborhoods. This position will oversee all aspects of Neighborhood Engagement.   

 

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Build relationships and partnerships with community residents, local organizations, coalition members, elected officials and community stakeholders in focused neighborhoods. 
  • Identify potential Roofing and Home Rescue applicants for targeted neighborhoods.  Work with the Home Repair Manager & Coordinator to help coordinate the application process.  
  • Recruit potential applicants for the Homeownership Program that want to continue to live in specific focused neighborhoods in partnership with this community. Work with the Family Services Director to help coordinate the application process. 
  • Attend community events and coalition meetings in focused neighborhoods to provide education about MVHFH and recruit for potential applicants. 
  • Educate the focused communities on available housing programs and work with other housing organizations as needed.  
  • Engage volunteers from local community to support projects in their neighborhood. 
  • Provide training to staff, board, committee members and volunteers regarding neighborhood revitalization and other topics. 
  • Engage faith communities in focused neighborhoods to help with recruitment strategies and provide volunteers as needed.  
  • Assist with neighborhood revitalization events. 
  • Work with the Communications Manager to establish a marketing plan for potential applicants. 
  • Create a tracking system of existing owner-occupied homes and rentals to help with recruitment strategies.  

 

Qualifications, Certifications and Skills 

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.  
  • Three (3) years of related experience in human services or social work. Experience in a non-profit organization is desirable.  

Willingness to advocate for the mission of Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity. 

  • An understanding of the housing industry and challenges facing low-income families.  
  • Excellent interpersonal and cultural competency skills to work with a wide spectrum of people effectively and collaboratively. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.  
  • Ability to train, work with and relate to volunteers. 
  • Strong organization skills and an independent work ethic. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including some weekends and evenings.  
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel, general computer expertise such as email and social media platforms, ability to learn and execute various software databases and systems. 
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured under Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity’s auto insurance 
  • Must pass background check including criminal records and sex offender registry prior to offer of employment. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain excellent working relationships with supervisor, co-workers, and other Maumee Valley Habitat for Humanity staff. 
  • Willingness to attend training and conferences as appropriate. 
  • Must have commitment to the Habitat mission and uphold its values and ethics.
