Community Engagement Facilitator

Bethany House provides long-term safe transitional shelter and advocacy to survivors of domestic violence and their children. The Community Engagement Facilitator position is part-time working 20-25 hours weekly to support the mission and values of Bethany House, as well as the values of the Sisters of St. Francis in Sylvania Ohio. 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  1. Assisting the Community Engagement Coordinator in specialized outreach activities and volunteer engagement.
  2. Facilitating donor engagement
  3. Facilitating volunteer recruitment, screening, orientation, training, and supervision
  4. Facilitating in-kind gifts and volunteers to ensure the needs of program participants are met, including holiday programs
  5. Coordinating volunteer opportunities and oversee volunteer (individuals and groups) activities to create clean welcoming shelter spaces for survivors and their children and overall care for the facility
  6. Facilitating outreach opportunities on behalf of Bethany House: resource fairs and community events
  7. Assisting in agency communication strategies including social media, marketing, newsletters, donor and volunteer acknowledgments
  8. Engaging with community agencies serving marginalized and under-served populations

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • An Associate’s degree in social services or related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in public speaking including an ability to tailor communication style based on audience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • A demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of domestic violence victims and their children
  • Ability to work from an empowerment model and a trauma-informed framework
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with demonstrated maturity and professional judgment
  • A highly motivated self-starter and ability to coordinate multiple projects/tasks at once
  • Knowledge of maintaining and executing confidential information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, and data entry into various software programs
  • Flexible, adaptable, and have the capability to work in a facility-based shelter environment

Requirements

  • Be able to lift 40 pounds and ability to climb stairs required
  • Driving is required for this position. Must have and maintain a vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and proof of auto insurance
  • Successful completion of background screening
